Objectives of the Watch Your Mouth Coalition are to Educate the public that tooth decay is the most common childhood disease that can cause diminished school performance and poor overall health. WYM advocates for wider access to preventive services, such as dental sealants and fluoride, and regular dental exams for all children.

  1. Join the Oral Health Advocacy Taskforce
    The Oral Health Advocacy Taskforce is a broad-based statewide coalition of consumers, advocates, health care professionals, academics and insurers. The goal of the Taskforce is to expand access to oral health education, prevention and treatment services for all Massachusetts residents. To meet this goal, the Taskforce promotes the following policy priorities:

    • Increase access to care for children and adults who qualify for and are enrolled in MassHealth and Commonwealth Care
    • Strengthen and expand the capacity of safety net dental providers
    • Implement statewide access to community water fluoridation
  2. Love fluoride? Join the Better Oral Health for Massachusetts Coalition in their work to fluoridate the state's community water supplies.

    The Massachusetts Coalition for Oral Health is an organization dedicated to improving the oral health of the residents of Massachusetts through the use of effective, community-based oral health education and preventive measures. The coalition publishes a quarterly newsletter called Prevention Matters and provides the following assistance to communities:

    • Technical support to communities interested in educating their citizens about the public health advantages of community water fluoridation.
    • Informational materials and presentations, about the benefits of fluoridation for optimal oral health, to local Boards of Health and residents of the Commonwealth.
    • Dental sealant program assistance for communities in Massachusetts.
    • Technical assistance for other community-based oral health preventive measures.
